Dear Parents/Guardians,
As in previous performances, please could all girls come to each performance and the dress rehearsal with their makeup already applied, and their hair already in a bun. Below is a list of all the things you will need, and a diagram to show you how to apply makeup and create the perfect bun. We will not have time to do your child's hair or makeup so please ensure she arrives with it all done.
Many thanks, Miss Keely-Anna
Makeup
Items Needed
Moisturiser
Foundation (Slightly darker colour than natural skin tone)
Powder
Blusher (Rosie pink colour)
Black eyeliner
White eyeliner
Black mascara
Silver / white glitter eye shadow
Step One
Moisturise entire face and allow to dry to help prevent dry or irritated skin.
Step Two
Using a makeup sponge, apply an even coat of foundation to the entire face, including under the chin, onto the neck, around the ears and up to the hairline. Blend carefully to ensure an even application. Set the foundation with a small amount of powder. |
Step Three
Apply blusher to the apples of the cheeks, sweeping up and out toward the hairline. |
Step Four
Apply black eyeliner to the upper lid. Apply a thin, straight line starting from the inner corner allowing the line to
extend beyond the natural eyelid.
Step Five
Apply black eyeliner to the lower lid. Start in the inner corner
of the eye and draw a thin line under the lashes again allowing the
line to extend beyond the natural eyelid.
Step Six
Apply white eyeliner to the upper lid. Apply a thin, straight line starting from the inner corner allowing the line to extend beyond the natural eyelid just above the black line. Also apply a small line between the two black lines which have extended beyond the natural
eyelid.
Step Seven
Apply Glitter eye shadow to the upper lid from the white line up to the eyebrow.
Step Eight
Using black mascara, gently sweep two coats on upper and lower lashes.
Step Nine
Carefully apply a bright shade of red lipstick to the upper and lower lips. Blot softly with a tissue.
Hair
Hint: do not wash hair before putting in a bun.
Items Needed
Hair brush
Elastic hair band
Hair net (same colour as hair)
Hair pins
Hair grips
Hair Spray
Step One
To start slightly wet hair and hands, this will help manage the hair better. Pull your hair into a tight pony tail. I like the bun to sit low especially for the children wearing hats, so use a low pony tail. Use hairspray to smooth down all the wispy bits and put and extra elastic band around pony tail to secure.
Step Two
Twist pony tail nice and tight. |
Step Three
Continue to twist and coil hair around the pony tail.
Step Four
Start to insert pins as you twist hair around pony tail. Slide each pin through the outer part of the coil, then into the base of the bun. Continue this until all the hair has been twisted and gripped.
Step Five
Wrap a fine hair net around the bun. Keep twisting and wrapping so that the hair net tightly secures the bun. Add a few more pins to secure the net.
Step Six
With long thick hair, you may end up with a bun that will protrude too much. A flatter bun is preferable. To flatten, remove all pins; the hair net will hold the bun. Then flatten the bun and re-pin all around the bun.
Step Seven
Spray all the hair and grip any short wispy bits. Ask the child to shake head a little to see if the bun feels secure, if not add more pins.
