All examinations are optional to everyone. We currently have a quick form for you to fill out to register interest for exams. Once we have received all the forms we will assess all children to determine whether they are ready to participate. If your child is not ready this time they will have the opportunity to participate next year.
We will not enter any students in to exams if we feel they may be unsuccessful regardless if all their peers are taking them. We strive to boost confidence and self-esteem neither of which will be achieved if they fail an exam.
We will not tolerate any form of bullying or indecent behavior towards any of our teachers to do so will mean immediate dismissal from the studio.
Please find more information below regarding exams with our associate exam boards. If you have any questions please do get in touch.
Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Exams
Royal Academy of Ballet Exams are offered to all ballet students aged seven years plus. We aim to provide one session a year. If we are unable to host an exam session ourselves we will partner with a local school and travel to them for the session.
Royal Academy of Dance exams are an exciting opportunity for students to gain accreditation for their hard work and prove they are ready for the next level. All exams are optional and students can still move up when they are ready with out taking the exam.
Exams are not scary and are meant to be enjoyable. All our students so far that have participated have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we have a 100% pass rate.
Examinations are formal and students and parents will be expected to act graciously and be polite to each other, teachers and the examiner. Children enter exams in groups up to a maximum of 4 students. Parents and teachers are not permitted to enter the examination room. Occasionally we require the help of a parent to play the music this cannot be a parent of a student in the examination. The parent helper will be prepped before hand and be expected to know the name of all the exercises and play them accordingly, sometimes out of order. This is a fun experience for parents and gives a wonderful insight in to an examination setting. You will get to see first hand how an examination is conducted and share the experience with your child.
Examinations do come at a cost of which all monies are paid directly to the exam board. Miss Keely-Anna will attend all examinations where psossible to ensure children are dressed correctly and to calm and reassure them. A small charge will be split between all students to cover travel and insurance.
All students should currently attend classes in the correct examination attire with the exception of satin ballet shoes which you can hire from Miss Keely-Anna for just £2 or purchase your very own for just £8. All uniform MUST be clean and free from holes. Please check your child's tights/socks and order new if necessary within plenty of time. Students are permitted to wear leggings in the weeks prior to their exam to ensure their tights are kept pristine.
